Wolfurs
Wolfurs are creatures that resemble really large wolves. However, they do have something different about them; iron rings can be found on their ankles, and depending on their rank, they normally have either a plate on their back or chest. They have a mane, grey or white, whichever best suits their fur color.
Wolfurs' fur can be: brown, red, white, black, gray, silver, dark purple, black and green and black and blue. Their color does not determine their rank, size does.
Females aren't smaller than males, they're usually the same; when averaged off, anyways. Wolfurs speak both telepathically and verbally. Verbally with any passengers or people they work with, telepathically with their kind and their handlers.
Handlers
Handlers aren't bonded to their Wolfur; their more like companions, but very close. When a litter is born, the Wolfur will go to the person most suited to him/her. When their Handler dies, they go into a slight depression for awhile, and once their ready, they take on another Handler again.
When a Wolfur dies, it's the same thing; the Handler goes into a slight depression for a little, and then once they're ready, they'll see if another Wolfur will accept them.
The longer a Handler is with a Wolfur, the stronger their relationship with eachother.
Purpose
Wolfur's and their handlers protect the people against random Snakelizard attacks and others. They are also scouts for the dragon riders, making sure that everything's in order. Some Wolfurs are even placed around the Dragon base to looke out for Snakelizard base spies.
Wolfur's and their handlers are always respected almost as much as dragons.
Facts
Wolfur Handlers may not become dragon riders, but may have MDs.
Wolfurs do not have powers, but are extremely powerful with their teeth and claws.
Handlers can ride Wolfurs; they're large enough to hold a human or two.
Wolfurs can swim, but can't climb trees or fly.
Handlers live normal spans, Wolfurs live as long as they escape death by claws, poison, teeth, or disease (though no Wolfur has ever died of a disease as of yet.)
Ranking
Here are the ranks, from greatest to least:
Master
Warrior
Guard
Messenger
Here is info on each rank:
Master--These Wolfur's are the rarest. The largest of them, they must have plates on their back and chest, unlike most other wolfurs. The bands on their feet and plate is gold.
Warrior--Warriors are the second largest Wolfurs. They have leaner bodies good for twisting and are flexible. Instead of having a plate on their chest or back, they have it on the crown of their head, to protect from hard hits. Their bands and head plate is blue.
Guards--They are the third largest Wolfurs. They have a more blocky structure than most, and are used for powerful defensive moves. Many are intimidated by their appearence. They have either a plate on their chest or back, and are red.
Messengers--Messengers are the smallest Wolfurs. Their bodies are small and agile, and they are the fastest of the Wolfurs. Many Commoners think of them as the most cuddible ones, and not fighters; but some messengers are surprisingly strong and can fight fairly well. These Wolves take messages to Mayors and even the Dragon Base Leader. They don't have any extra plates, but their bands are green.
