"Oh, come on!" the dragonrider said to the large dragon with pleading eyes. "We're away from the base, nobody's gonna see you here! Just for once you should act like the fledgling that I know is in you." Darren was in his swim shorts, waist deep in the cool, clear water of the lake. He was trying to coerce his solar dragon to get into the water with him; and not just for a both.
Galberg looked at the water disdainfully. Why would I want to splash around like some kind of duck? the dragon asked.
"Because it's fun!" Darren said aloud with a childish grin. "Now come in, you great oof!" He watched with mirthful eyes as Galberg sighed. The solar dragon knew his rider wouldn't hush until he went in, so he slowly walked deeper into the water. It swirled around his veined scales, and as he passed Darren, the young man grabbed onto his tail. Galberg glanced behind him, just a tad amused, and continued to walk deeper into the lake. He stopped when it was to his shoulders, and twisted his head around to watch his rider climb up his back.
What are you doing? he asked, but even as it came to Darren he already knew the answer, and watched as the eighteen-year-old rider jumped off the dragon and into the water. Childish, Galberg rumbled, amused.

Jackie had taken a trip down to the lake for a refreshing dip after her chores. Every day was something new in the Dragon Base, and after her lessons, she had a few things to do (help out with the dining hall, normally) before she could have the rest of the day off. Today, she finished everything with surprising speed, so she'd gone back to her room, changed into her bathing suit, and came to the lake. Sitting on a rock that was poking out of the water, her legs were over the edge, the water swirling around her knees. Her mind was spacing out, like it usually did, when she suddenly heard the great beats of wings and splashing of water.
When she looked up, she saw a dragon pair farther away from the lake edge. The dragonrider was in the water, and the dragon- a solar dragon!- was on the ground, looking at the water..almost disdainfully. Jackie grinned at the dragon's expression, even as it changed while he conversed with the young rider. She glanced between the two, amused, and watched as the dragon finally gave in, trudging through the water. She continued to watch as the rider did his jump and laughed aloud, suddenly wondering if they'd spotted her or not already.

As Darren started to climb up his back again, the transulcent-scaled dragon heard laughter. His head raised, eyes percieving a young girl on a rock in the water a few ways away, smiling and laughing and their antics. Not in a bad way; she was probably laughing at Darren's actions, and it didn't really surprise him. Darren, he attempted to call his rider's attention, but he didn't hear and jumped off the veined back of the solar dragon and splashed into the water. Galberg frowned at him as he swam under the water before shifting his gaze back to the girl, watching her, intruiged.
As Darren climbed out of the water, holding onto his tail, the solar dragon twisted his neck to watch him climb up his back. Before the rider could jump, however, a wing was pulled out of the water and stretched before him, acting like a wall, preventing Darren to jump. The rider frowned. "Hey, just because you don't want to have fun, doesn't mean that I-" Galberg shifted sharply on his feet, unsettling his rider and cutting him off.
No, little one. Another is watching us, he corrected with a draconish grin. He lowered his wing, allowing him to watch the girl as she sat on the rock, oblivious to the attention she was drawing to herself. "What are you waiting for, then? Invite her over," Darren said, leaning against the ridge of his other wing, in full view of Jackie.
Rolling his eyes, Galberg's head swiveled over in the direction of the young candidate. Excuse me, the dragon said politely to the girl, We'd like it if you came over. The dragon recognized the face; she was a candidate at the Base. Good; if she wasn't, the Seas and Oceans weren't doing their jobs, because she definitely had what it takes. He could tell from over here.

The prescence of a voice in her mind startled Jackie to no ends. She started to lean too far back on the rock and slipped over, splashing into the water. She quickly righted herself and she her head clear of water as she gazed to the dragonpair, seeing two pairs of eyes on her. That must've been the dragon, she thought to herself. But why would a dragonpair want her to come over? She was just a candidate. Jackie just shrugged and jogged over to them in the knee-deep water. They were farther in, so she swam to them until it was over her head (what, the solar dragon was HUGE!!), and kicked her legs under her to keep her above water.
She glanced to the two and paused for a second. Her legs bumped into a sand bank, so she quickly stood on that, giving her legs a rest and lowering the water level to her chest. Her hair dripping, she ignored it and gazed at both of them. "You guys called me over?" she said, slightly nervous. It was the first time a dragonrider/dragon had talked to her...except the Sea that had searched her. Even though the riders said that the dragons normally only talk to their riders, it didn't seem like it to her; after all, the only two dragons she's met have talked to her already.

Galberg rumbled in amusement at her slightly nervous posture. He dipped his head so his snout touched the water as Darren sat up every so slightly. Out of the corner of his eye, the dragon saw his rider's smile.
"Hello," Darren said cheerfully. "I'm Darren, and the lout under me is Galberg." The dragon snorted, spraying up water that drizzled over his rider and Jackie. He frowned at the Solar dragon. "That was uncalled for, buddy," he pointed out. Galberg gave him a mysterious look that made the rider''s eyes narrow. "Anyways," he continued slowly, tearing his gaze away from his dragon's, "Do you want to come up here? Galberg won't mind."
The dragon raised his head and nodded before putting his snout in the water again. Darren stared at him. "What the heck are you doing!" He exclaimed.
Galberg's eyes shifted to Jackie. Watch this,[/color] the dragon said, took a gulp of water, raised his head, and shot it out at Darren, knocking him off his back.
Darren surfaced after awhile and grabbed onto a spike on Galberg's tail. Galberg was rumbling in amusement as his rider glared at him. "Thanks!" he said.

Jackie glanced up at the water drizzling down on them. "I'm Jackie," she replied, eyes still on the dragon, awestruck at his dazzling scales and huge overall size. The dragon's strong and foreign voice washed over her once more, and so she watched as Darren was blown off the dragon's back. She laughed and shifted on her feet before diving under the water. She swam under Galberg's tail until he was on the side that Darren had fallen into the water. She gently resurfaced, eyes quickly locating the rider's form on the solar dragon's tail. With a grin, she went underwater once more, grabbed onto the rider's ankle, and yanked.
Once he was under, she let go and quickly swam away, breaking the surface and taking a gulp of air before laughing. Then she grabbed onto a tail spike, gently pulling herself out of the water and cautiously climbing up until she was on his back, looking down into the water for Darren. When she saw him, she smiled. "Sorry," she apologized with a guilty grin.
